Westminster's Girls' Lacrosse program has a tradition of gritty play and strong character, fielding three competitive teams each spring. Third Girls’ Lacrosse contributes immensely to the depth of Westminster School's girls’ lacrosse program. While many players brand-new to the sport find themselves on the third squad, the team is also supported by talented players who are less experienced, young, or need further instruction with the basics of the game. As precedent shows, most of these players will move up to the junior varsity team or even the varsity team level during their career here, experiencing an even more demanding level of competitive lacrosse.
The school's commitment to girls' lacrosse is apparent in the fantastic facilities available for the program and players, including beautiful fields nestled in the woods of the lower campus, a synthetic turf field, and a state-of-the-art weight training room in the Sherwin Athletic Center. In addition, Westminster’s hockey rink, Jackson Rink, is turned into an incredible indoor turf field for the spring and summer months and was recently used by the U.S. Men’s National Indoor Lacrosse team for its final round of tryouts and scrimmages before the world championship tournament.
Westminster graduates have gone on to play at colleges and universities across the country, including the University of Denver, Gettysburg, Cornell, Colby, Skidmore, Bowdoin, Babson, Roanoke, Union, Lehigh, Vassar, University of California at Berkeley, and Holy Cross. The program has produced several All-Americans, Honorable Mention All-Americans and Academic All- Americans over the years.
