Third Boys' Hockey gets gritty play from lean bench in loss

With a barebones bench due to sickness and injury, the Martlets started this one already on their heels against a deep, large, and talented Salisbury squad. From the opening puck drop, this game promised to be a physical one, challenging a core group to play with a new level of urgency and intensity. It was fitting too that Carson Roth '19 removed the goose egg from the scoreboard in the final minutes. Carson found a new level of play and set the overall tone with his smart, tenacious, and relentless forecheck during all three stanzas. From Coach Stevens' perspective, this was a character game and - to a player - the Grit factor was off the charts. Westminster's four blue liners worked tirelessly in the defensive end while the forwards remained pesty and physical. Special thanks to Preston Eppler '16, who dusted off his equipment and goalie skills to provide an impressive bulkhead between the pipes and some inspiration in the room. Maybe practice is overrated for goalies...Taft is next. Thanks too to the parents who came out to support the team  - the boys appreciate the cheers!
