Ultimate Off and Running

What a way to open the season! Great game from our Westminster students who showed grit playing in this weather. Although cold and drizzling, the team pulled out a win after hustling for an hour. Lots of excitement from the sidelines as we went 7 vs 7 against Granby.

While off to a slow start, the energy remained high throughout the entire game. Tim Donahue ‘27 kicked things off by scoring our first point of the season. Alex Wood ‘25 with the most assists on points. He played for most of the game and showed up for his team having 8 assists and 2 points. Wherever the frisbee was tossed, Wood was right there ready to catch it. Huge shout out to Derek Rhodes ‘25 for scoring the most points this game. Rhodes scored 4 points total for Westy today. Wood and Rhodes were an unstoppable duo out there on the field! This team would not have its first win if Anthony DiBartolomeo ‘25 was not out there running and catching passes. With 2 points and 2 assists, DiBartolomeo showed up for his teammates. We cannot forget Sabrina Yang ‘26 scoring a point and catching some insane throws!

Grit & Grace award goes to Brenden Gilooly ‘26 because he was encouraging on and off the field. Gilooly’s energy was electric and every time he played, he gave 100% effort. He is a fast, reliable player who presents great sportsmanship!
