While different from a normal dual match and counts for different points, it was great to head back to local rival KO, and team favorite Coach Krugman, for a packed weekend of matches. Listed below are all the results, where there are four singles draws and two doubles draws. Main draw matches count as 2 points, consolation matches count as 1 and are all a pro set to 8, and each player is guaranteed two matches in whatever draw they are entered in. All the teams either maintained their level from years previous, or vastly improved. Lawrenceville, Hall High School, hosts KO, and others showed that even though they didn’t win as many main draw finals as some others, there is something to be said in playing tough, playing smart, and keeping teammates focused. Equal credit to Groton, Deerfield, Choate and Hotchkiss for showing lots of strengths and depth in their teams, and also giving a sign of what is to come for us later in our schedule. Listed below are the results of our four players: Parks Cuskley ‘25, Liam Hibbard ‘27, Co-Captain Hugh Olson ‘25 and Finn Hocking ‘26. Overall there is still room to improve, but as we discussed after the matches on Saturday and again on Sunday, we would much rather be losing tight matches in early April than early May and we should just enjoy getting out there finding out what it means to compete again. One mental highlight was Liam Hibbard going from Saturday to Sunday and his mantra of “new day, new me.” Sure enough, he played his best of the weekend Sunday morning in a great rebound doubles match with Cuskley against a solid Lawrenceville team. Lots of lessons every day!
