Martlets Fall to Taft

Knowing they would be facing a perennially tough opponent to close the regular season, the Martlets learned that they would be without their number one player for the match. The girls responded with an impressive display of grit, putting up a good fight against long odds. At the top of the ladder, co-captain Elle Wilson ‘26, playing #1 and Marti Jaramillo ‘27, playing at #2, each played numerous long rallies and made their opponents work hard for every point, and both came within a few points of taking a game. Further down, Natasha Johnson ‘27 came even closer at #5, covering a lot of court with her tenacious defending. Anna Min ‘27, at #6 and Meiyin Ren ‘25 at #7, took it one step further as each girl took a game, and both narrowly missed taking another. Despite the loss, the match should give the girls encouragement as they head into the New England tournament this weekend.
