Martlets Fall to Miss Porter's

The Martlets looked to keep their one-game winning streak going against the Fighting Daisys of Mrs. Porters. The two teams were evenly matched from the start. The Martlets were able to score quickly, thanks to great work in the paint by Avauni Anderson ‘25. On the defensive end of the floor, the Martlets were able to contain the Daisys in the first quarter. Throughout the entirety of the game, great defense was played by Adam Dembele ‘25, Arielle Anderson ‘28, and Ainslee Deptula ‘28. Going into the second quarter the Martlets had a small lead. This is when the offensive success the girls were experiencing was diminished and the Daisy’s were able to come back and take the lead. Due to a few lapses in defensive judgment, the Daisys were able to score multiple easy transition baskets in a row. The Martlets were down by ten at halftime. Once again it was time for the girls to dig deep and refocus our energy on getting stops on defense and cutting into the Daisys lead. At the start of the third quarter things started going the Martlet's way, key baskets by Adam Dembele ‘25, Janet Kibuir ‘26, and Caitlyn Eaton ‘28 helped keep the Martlets within striking distance. Once the fourth quarter began, it was back and forth for the majority of the time. Bella Lilien ‘27 was able to make key passes to help get her teammates some much-needed baskets to keep the Martlets in the game. With under a minute left, the girls had a chance to close the gap but could not make a basket. The Martlets showed great effort in this game. When things were not going their way they changed their attitudes and provided more energy to change what they needed to so they could stay competitive.
