Martlets Fall to Tabor

The Martlets faced a tough challenge against Tabor Academy Saturday night at Jackson Rink. The game started with Tabor coming out fast, scoring two quick goals within the first minute to seize an early lead. Their momentum continued as they added two more in the opening period, ending the first frame with a 4-0 advantage. The second period saw Westminster battle back with grit, keeping pace with a back-and-forth tempo. Tabor extended their lead with a fifth goal, but Westminster showed resilience, responding with a goal of their own to cut the deficit to 5-1. Senior defenseman, Mana Shida ‘25, corralled the puck at the blue line and shot the puck high over the goalie’s shoulder, finding the back of the net! Despite the effort, Tabor added one more late in the period to make it 6-1 heading into the third. The final period was more evenly contested, with each team scoring once to finish the game at 7-2 in favor of the Seawolves. The highlight of the period was sophomore Bella Zapata ‘27 showcasing her impressive speed on the penalty kill to get the Martlets second goal of the game. Zapata skated by the Tabor defenseman and put the puck top shelf to beat the goalie with only 25 seconds left in the game! While Westminster fought hard throughout, Tabor's early dominance proved to be the difference in the game. The Martlets have a quick turnaround and will face nearby rival, Loomis Chaffee, on Monday at home!
Our Grit and Grace player of the game is Rose Robertson ‘28! Rose has stepped up and been an invaluable member of our defense all year and today was no different!
