Martlets Battle in Loss to Canterbury

After Westminster won two weeks ago, the Saints used their physical play and hot shooting to even the season series with a 54-50 victory. The game began with the Martlets going ice cold from the floor. Sunny Danowski ‘28 and Liam Hibbard ‘27 managed to finally get a few balls to go through the net. Hunter Grace ‘27 provided a spark in the first half, but Westminster trailed 17–32 at the break. As play began in the second half, it looked like Canterbury would run away with the game. At the seven minute mark, the Saints led 45–27. Then the Martlets began to fly. Khand Ngo '27 hit a three-point shot to get the offense going. Then Grace and Hibbard took over. Grace had a three-pointer and a breakaway lap and Hibbard hit two three-pointers down the stretch. Both players finished with 13 points. With four minutes left, the score was 54–40. Hibbard hit a three-pointer, and Westminster began to press. With 30 seconds left, the Saints lead was down to four. Unfortunately, Westminster could get no closer. When the final whistle blew, Canterbury had a 54-50 victory. The boys hope to get healthy over the long weekend and return to action in one week.
