Martlets Fall in Lakeville

The Martlets battled hard but ultimately fell short against Hotchkiss on Saturday afternoon, losing 4-2 in a competitive matchup. Hotchkiss took a 1-0 lead after the first period, but the tide began to turn in the second as Westminster found their stride and pushed ahead. The first goal for Westminster came from sophomore Ellie Larrabee '27, who found a rebound in front of the net and fired it past the Hotchkiss goalie to even the score at 1-1. The momentum continued for the visitors when senior captain Adrienne Hall netted a powerplay goal. Hall, showing great vision and poise, attacked from behind the net, lifting the puck over the goalie’s shoulder to give Westminster a 2-1 lead going into the final period. However, Hotchkiss responded in the third period, scoring three unanswered goals to secure a 4-2 victory. Despite Westminster's strong effort, Hotchkiss took control late and managed to close out the game. It was a hard-fought contest, with Westminster showcasing resilience, but Hotchkiss proved to be the stronger team in the final frame, pulling away for the win. The highlight of the game was sophomore goaltender Liesel Kocourek ‘27 getting her first start for the Black and Gold! The team will look to regroup and prepare for their next challenge at Williston Northampton School on Wednesday at 2:45pm.
Our Grit and Grace player of the game is senior captain Adrienne Hall! Hall’s consistent effort all game led the way for the Martlets until the final buzzer!
