Martlets Fall to Rhinos

Looking to bounce back from a close loss on Wednesday, the Martlets took the court Saturday afternoon to face a tough Taft team. In the first few minutes of the game the defensive energy, that was lacking against Hotchkiss the game before, was present. The girls were communicating and playing great team basketball. In the first three minutes of the game, Avauni Anderson ‘25 went down with an ankle injury and did not return. This ended up greatly impacting Westminster's offensive and defensive game. Bella Lilien ‘27 did a great job handling the point and providing the Martlets with their only two baskets of the game. Taft sat in a 2-3 zone for the majority of the game, which proved difficult for the Martlets to break. Callie Graby ‘28 and Ainslee Deptula ‘28 provided great defensive and positive energy off the bench. Suri Dong ‘28 and Caitlyn Eaton ‘28 also gave the Martlets solid minutes off the bench as well. Janet Kiburi ‘26 stepped up for her teammates and gave it her all. Even though it was not the outcome we wanted, the girls played hard all 32 minutes. The Martlets look to gain another victory before a break in play.
