Martlets and Canterbury Skate to OT Tie

The Westminster Martlets played to a hard-fought 2-2 draw against the Canterbury Saints in an exciting, fast-paced matchup on Saturday. Blake Burke was the standout for the Martlets, scoring both goals for his team. His first came just minutes into the game, giving Westminster an early 1-0 lead. However, the Saints answered with two goals of their own, taking a 2-1 lead into the third period.
With the clock winding down, Burke once again came through for the Martlets, scoring the game-tying goal late in the third to force overtime. In the extra frame, Burke had a chance to secure the win with a breakaway opportunity, but Canterbury’s goalie turned him away, keeping the score tied at 2.
The Martlets played a strong overall game, outshooting Canterbury 40-23, and showing resilience in their comeback effort. Despite the tie, it was a solid team performance, with excellent offensive pressure and defensive support throughout. Westminster will look to build on this effort as they continue their season.
