Martlets Fall to Kent

The Martlet JV Girls Hockey team traveled to Kent for the first contest of the season. Although coming up short in the 4 - 2 contest, the team played gritty hockey for the full three periods skating against a very strong Kent squad. After going down by two goals in the first period, team captain Lily Vincent '25 netted the first goal of the season skating 'coast to coast' around several Kent defenders. Abby Cirelli '27 dialed it up in the second period and pushed home the second Westy goal. The power play of Sofia Eleuteri '28, Liza Merrill '25, Lucy Wainwright '25, along with Vincent and Cirelli had a few great chances as a result of very skilled puck movement - but to no avail. Tilly Lynch '25 was in mid-season form kicking out, blocking, and gloving a total of 30 saves - many coming under heavy Kent pressure. Although a loss in the books, it was a very spirited and exciting contest celebrated by a 30-minute holiday parade down Kent's main street on our way home!!
