Martlets Tie Kent

In the first half of the match, both teams came out strong, pressing each other. The opposition managed to strike early, scoring within the first few minutes, which put the Martlets on the back foot. However, the team didn't let the early setback affect their determination. Rush Miller ‘28 stood out with some crucial tackles, while Junian Kim ’27 showed relentless effort in fighting for possession and keeping the pressure on their opponents. Despite being a goal down, the Martlets continued to battle, showcasing resilience and strong teamwork.
The second half saw a shift in momentum as the Martlets grew more confident in possession. Steven Lau ‘28 was instrumental, consistently creating attacking opportunities and displaying his skills as a forward. With better ball movement and control, the Martlets earned a penalty, which Adrien Dellaert ‘25 scored, bringing a surge of energy to the team. As the match progressed, Kent found the back of the net again with just 10 minutes remaining, taking a 2-1 lead, but the Martlets weren't done yet.
In a thrilling final sequence, the Martlets pressed relentlessly, determined to find an equalizer. In the dying seconds of the match, Lane Gallagher ‘25 showed incredible poise in a chaotic box situation, kicking the ball in their goal amidst a crowd of players. His last-minute goal secured a 2-2 draw, capping off an intense and exciting game.
The Grit and Grace Award is presented to Lane Gallagher ‘25 for his outstanding efforts throughout the match and for seizing the opportunity in the final 10 seconds to score the equalizing goal.
