Martlets Fall to Bearcats

The Martlets had a challenge finding their rhythm in the first half. Despite their efforts, the team was slow to attack, failing to capitalize on opportunities as they lost possession frequently. Justin Fu ‘27 stood out on the wing, persistently chasing down balls, while Adrien Dellaert ‘25 provided solid defensive support, easing pressure on goalkeeper Will Gallagher ‘27. However, the Martlets found themselves trailing by two goals as Hotchkiss capitalized on their mistakes.

In the second half, the Martlets regrouped and displayed a more aggressive gameplay. With Teddy Russell ‘26, Steven Lau ‘28, and Lane Gallagher ‘25 pushing forward, they began to create more offensive opportunities. Although they faced intense pressure from the Hotchkiss defense, the Martlets remained resilient. Teddy Russell ‘26 managed to score, igniting a renewed sense of hope and determination within the team. Will Jones also contributed significantly, helping to advance the ball and create additional scoring chances as the game approached its end. But, Hotchkiss found an opportunity to score another goal. Nonetheless, the Martlets’ improved performance in the second half showcased their potential and teamwork, despite ultimately falling short.
