Martlets Fall to GA

The Martlets were back on Hovey field today to take on Greenwich Academy, in hopes of getting back in the win column. The game started pretty well for the Martlets. They were able to move the ball up field as a group, while limiting Greenwich’s chances on the other end of the field. With about two minutes to go in the first quarter, Greenwich capitalized on a corner to give themselves a one goal lead. A couple minutes later, Greenwich earned another corner and with only seconds left on the clock, they scored their second goal of the game. The two late quarter goals for Greenwich, deflated the Martlets. Throughout the second quarter, Greenwich maintained momentum and limited the Martlets chances. The first half would come to an end with the score being 3-0. During halftime, the Martlets regrouped and came out strong for the third quarter. The Martlets were able to take away the momentum that Greenwich previously had and started to maintain possession of the ball. The second half consisted of solid chances and good defensive plays for the Martlets. Unfortunately, the Martlets were unable to find the back of the net but their effort and hard work did not go unnoticed. Greenwich would eventually get one more goal to push the final score to 4-0. The Martlets look forward to a busy week ahead, with their next game being Monday October 28th against Suffield Academy at home at 4:45pm!

Our Grit and Grace player of the game is Ellie Larrabee ‘27! Ellie entered the game with confidence, ready to hustle all over the field, leading to some great defensive plays.
