Martlets Fall on the Road

The Martlets made the short drive down the road in Simsbury this Wednesday afternoon to play against the Ethel Walker Girls’ Varsity team. The Ethel Walker squad has had a great season this year, and the Martlets were aware that they would need to bring their best efforts to find success on the field today. That being said, Westminster struggled to bring the energy, and Ethel Walker capitalized. The Martlets had a few early chances near the net, but were unable to finish their opportunities. As Westminster struggled to put a point on the board, Ethel Walker’s determination shone through and they were able to score on the Martlets later on in the first half. After the first 40, the teams broke for halftime, and Westminster looked to approach the second half with a bit more grit. Unfortunately, the Martlets were unable to find the net, and Ethel Walker was able to score an additional goal making the final score 2-0. There was a lot to learn from today’s game, and the Martlets are looking forward to another week of practice before their next game against Canterbury. The game will be played away, this upcoming Saturday, at 2:30 PM.
