Martlets Shutout by Porter's

The girls returned from the break with a little lag in their step. Miss Porter’s came out strong in half number one, dominated time of possession and was able to deposit a loose ball in front of the net into the goal. After a half time discussion about the lethargic style of play, the team determined that part of the problem was playing this game on a turf field and the problems of the fast-playing area. The ball scooted up and down the field rapidly and there were many loose balls, hand balls, head balls, and much chaos throughout both halves. During the second half Ilana Mezheritskiy ‘27 and Gloria Oh ‘28 had several shots on net but nothing was able to sink. The team definitely played better in the second half and several players were able to find some reserves in their stamina, keeping the game close: Janet Kiburi ‘26, Luna Yang ‘26 and Arielle Anderson ‘28. The team was also glad to see the return of Daryna Atamaniuk ‘26 who played solid defense in her first game back after a few weeks due to illness. The team has a short turnaround before playing Suffield on Friday.
