Martlets Fall to Granby

In our rematch of last week’s home loss, we played much better but suffered a similar one-goal loss. Although Granbyt controlled much of the action early in the game, they never really threatened us, and we spent more time in their half of the field than we did last week. We had a few chances – short-range shots by midfielders Carsten Matthews ‘28 and Caden Weichselbaumer ‘28 and brilliant cross that went unchallenged in front of the net but eluded a couple of our forwards. We made a mad rush in the game’s final minutes and had a few near misses, but ultimately we couldn’t convert. Tom Merrill ‘28 was our Grit and Grace aard winner for his courageous and aggressive play in net and his great communication with his teammates. Backs Brooks BeVier ‘28 and Jack Perkins ‘28 each played extra shifts and played smart and tough. It wasn’t our best effort of the year, but it was one to be proud of and to build on.
