Martlets Fall to Deerfield

Another difficult outing for 3BS as we surrendered five unanswered goals after taking an early lead. In the third minute of the game with the wind at our backs, Colin Daly ‘27 and Caden Cramer ‘27 combined on some nice passing in the offensive right corner of the field. Cramer crossed the ball and Max Famulak ‘27 was able to put the ball into the back of the net. Our boys held their own the rest of the half as each team had several chances. In the second half, though, the game was all green and white as they scored both early and late. A corner scramble in the fifth minute tied the game and in the seventh minute DA was able to take the lead on a nice finish off a low cross from the left wing. With the wind (and the score) now in our faces we struggled to generate scoring chances. Deerfield scored again in the 11th minute and in the 21st minute on a header at the far post off a nice cross from the right side. In the last minute of the game DA scored their final goal. Despite the score, our goalkeeper, Ethan Hernandez ‘27, made many aggressive plays. Our defense also stayed up and were very successful at causing numerous offsides calls against our opponents. Our GRIT & Grace player of the game was Brooks Berthiaume ‘27 for his overall hustle and ability to play any position. 3BS hosts Avon Old Farms on Saturday during Parents & Family Weekend.
