Martlets Fall to AOF

The Martlets faced off against Avon Old Farms (AOF) at home, showcasing an intense battle from the start. Both teams pressed for an early goal, but as the first half progressed, the Martlets struggled with ball possession and defensive organization, allowing AOF to capitalize and score three goals before halftime. But, Maruli Sianturi’s ‘28 energy kept the team motivated throughout.
Despite the setbacks, Martlets’ players Steven Lau ‘28 and Lane Gallagher ‘25 put in commendable efforts, battling through injuries to create scoring opportunities. The second half saw AOF extend their lead with another goal. However, the Martlets regrouped and showed resilience, earning two penalty chances. Although Charlie Hansell ‘28 missed the first, Teddy Russell ‘26 seized the second opportunity, scoring the lone goal for the Martlets.
The Grit and Grace Award was awarded to Gid Williams '27 for his relentless energy throughout the game. Positioned along the sidelines, Gid skillfully fielded the ball and played a crucial role in ensuring the game's continuity when the ball went outbound.
