Martlets Defeat GA

Summary: The Westminster Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played against the Gators of Greenwich Academy at home this Tuesday afternoon. A chilly fall day, the Martlets were eager to take the pitch to battle against their opponents. From the first whistle, Westminster was quick to dominate; connecting passing, playing quickly, and looking to get players in behind the Gator backline, the team was dangerous in their attack. Finally, their efforts paid off with a goal from Hannah Coccaro ‘26. Her third consecutive goal, Coccaro received a great pass from Lauren Neuman ‘25. After taking a strong first touch into the box and beating her defender with a couple of good touches, Coccaro sailed a beautifully placed ball into the Gator’s upper 90. The score was 1-0 for the remainder of the game and the Marlets continued with their gritty attack and defending. Overall, this was a great game for the Martlets and they look forward to their upcoming senior day this Saturday. The team will recognize their nine seniors who have contributed so much to the program: Avery Boulanger, Emma Isakoff, Tilly Lynch, Remi Morello, Helen Marshall, Lauren Neuman, Emme Pacheco-Hager, and managers Avauni Anderson and Adrienne Hall. The game will be played at home against the Wyverns of Kingswood Oxford at 1:30 PM.

Grit and Grace Award: The Grit and Grace Award today is given to Emma Isakoff ‘25 for her hard work in the midfield today!
