Martlets Tie Deerfield

The Westminster JV Boys started the game well, playing on the front foot and forcing the Deerfield into uncomfortable mistakes. Deerfield grew into the game but struggled to seriously test Ryan Sohn ‘27 in goal. There was an intensity to the Westminster effort meaning even if they weren’t first to the ball; they weren’t leaving the tackle without it. Dylan Ness ‘26 embodied this tenacity, appearing out of nowhere with the saving tackle. Deerfield scored early in the second half after a misunderstanding in the back. Aidan O’Callaghan ‘26 was a source of calm and confidence in his defensive duties. Westminster regained their momentum in the second half, capitalizing on their positive energy from an Adrien Dellaert ‘25 corner, which Teddy Russell ‘26 recycled into a shot for Lane Gallagher ‘25 who slid home from close range, after pouncing on a bad touch from the Deerfield defense. The game was played in a great spirit from both teams, but it was the Westminster boys pushing right through to the final whistle and trying to earn the victory.
The Grit and Grace Award is given to Henry Naylor '25 for his energetic play, consistent effort, and impressive defensive skills throughout the game.
