Martlets Fall to Pelicans

The Martlets made a short drive to Loomis today for a Saturday afternoon matchup. This was the Martlets second time playing Loomis this season, the first time being a scrimmage at home. The game got off to a quick start when Loomis scored about five minutes into the first quarter. Their goal was the result of a successful corner play. Loomis then added another off of a strong individual effort. Not long after, the Martlets got on the scoreboard when Lily Vincent ’25 put it home! The ball was put in the circle by Allysen Whitehead ’25 and it deflected off of many sticks before it found its way across the goal line. The Martlets went into halftime with a two goal deficit. Throughout the next two quarters, the Martlets showed great hustle in all areas of the field but were unable to add anymore to the scoreboard. Loomis would go on to add their final goal of the game with just under a minute to go. Hannah Maltby ’26 was in net today for the Martlets and made many key saves throughout the day that kept the Martlets in the game. Although not the result we wanted, the Martlets are excited to bounce back and hit the road again on Wednesday October 9th when they play Hotchkiss at 3:15!

Our Grit and Grace player today goes to Ellie Larrabee ’27! Ellie got in on defense and immediately made a positive influence. Her hard work as well as timely plays helped the Martlets immensely.
