Martlets and Pelicans Tie

 The Martlets made the short trip over to Windsor this past Saturday to battle against the Pelicans of Loomis. A night game with fans from both Westminster and Loomis, both teams approached the game with energy and grit. The Martlets looked to quickly identify the Loomis formation, adapt, and find open spaces to attack. With 33:13 on the clock, Westminster was able to strike first with their first goal from Mia Fluckiger ‘26. Due to her relentless offensive pressure, Fluckiger was able to capitalize on a dropped ball from the Pelican keeper and place the ball into the back of the net to put the Martlets into the lead. Not giving up, Loomis continued to apply consistent offensive pressure and challenged the Martlets. Later on in the half, the Pelicans were awarded a penalty kick which allowed them to tie the match to 1-1 going into the half. The score remained tied for the final 40 minutes and until the final whistle. The squad looks forward to the week ahead in practice and their next Wednesday battle against the Bearcats of Hotchkiss. The game will be played away in Lakeville at 3:15 PM.
