Martlets Tie Choate

The Martlets hosted the Wild Boars for a midweek tilt on Williams Hill. With a good number of Westminster grandparents supporting their grandsons, our side put forth good effort and earned a 1-1 tie against an evenly matched side from CRH. While our warm-up seemed a little flat, our Martlets started the game on time and with good energy. Both teams had chances that either bounded wide or the goal keeper made good saves. The Boars held the advantage in corner kicks on the day, and the Martlets had several close in chances that just wouldn’t cross the goal line. In the 25th minute of the first half, Khang Ngo ‘27 made a smart drop pass to Caden Cramer ‘27 who then lofted a service into the box. Owen McNally ‘26 raced in to beat the defender, and slide the ball into the goal for a 1-0 lead. The second half was another back and forth battle and both teams had several opportunities to score. The Boars finally broke through to knot the score at one goal apiece on a well struck direct kick from about 25 yards out with about 10 minutes remaining in the game. Our defense, led by Henry Baird ‘26, remained stout. Our GRIT & Grace player of the game is Nazar Tatus for his constant upbeat energy and desire to compete. 3BS travels to Pomfret on Saturday.
