Martlets Shutout AOF

We traveled to Avon and defeated the Winged Beavers soundly. We announced our presence with authority when Carsten Matthews ‘28 touched home a brilliant through ball from fellow middie Hyunwoo Chung ‘28 in the first minute of the game. Matthews put home a rebound of a Chung shot five minutes later to make it 2-0. Our midfield line of Caden Weichselbaumer ‘28, Rafa Rodrigues ‘28 and Paul Coccaro ‘28 each tallied single goals before halftime to give us a commanding 5-0 lead. Gavin Ciriello ‘28, who continued to trend up as a right winger, closed out the scoring on the day in the second half on a brilliant feed from Caden. There were lots of red hots to be handed out: back line players Soren Techet ‘28 (who just missed on three scoring opportunities in the second half), Noah Maltby ‘28, Max Jiang ‘28 and Finn O'Shaughnessy ‘28 all had their best games of the year with smart decisions and courageous plays on 50-50 balls. Caden won the Grit and Grace award for the game for his three-point effort, overall dominance, and selfless play in the second half.
