Martlets Win on the Road

The Martlets ventured to the Kent School today for their first away game of the season. The first half started strong with Westminster's quick first goal. Just six minutes in, Mia Fluckiger ‘26 slotted the ball into the box for Hannah Coccaro ‘26 for the finish. Shortly after that, Caroline Gauvin ‘27 dribbled up the left side of the field and played Fluckiger. After taking a few quick touches, Fluckiger then crossed the ball into Callie Graby ‘28 for the finish. Kent retaliated with a late first-half goal leaving the teams with a 2-1 score leading into halftime. The Martlets entered the next 40 minutes with increased grit, and scored an additional five goals in the second half. The first was just eight minutes into the half, where Hayley Fineberg ‘26 found Fluckiger for a one-touch finish into the back of the net. With 24 minutes left on the clock, Coccaro returned the first-half favor to Fluckiger with a great slotted ball that allowed Fluckiger to swiftly beat her defender and score. Less than three minutes later, the Martlets had a great flow of passes that ultimately led to Emma Isakoff’s ‘25 goal. Gauvin had a wonderful turn on her defender, played it to Graby who dropped it off to Fluckiger who then found Isakoff for the upper-90 finish. The sixth goal of the match was from Cameron Perillo ‘28 who received the ball from Fluckiger, took a great first touch, and found the back of the Kent net.  With just three minutes remaining on the clock, the Martlets scored one final goal thanks to a wonderful corner kick by Aila Van Dolah ‘28 and a fantastic one-touch finish from Avery Boulanger ‘25. With all 22 players impacting the game today, it was a full-team effort! The Martlets look forward to their next game, this upcoming Friday against Choate. The game will be played away against the Wild Boars at 5 PM.

Grit and Grace Award: The Grit and Grace Award is awarded to Mia Fluckiger today for her involvement in four of the seven goals today. Not only did she find the back of the net with her individual scoring chances, but she was also unselfish and found the better pass for her teammates to score.
