Martlets Fall to Choate

In the first half of the match, the Martlets demonstrated a commendable level of effort and determination against Choate. The Martlets pushed hard offensively, with standout performances from players like Charlie Hansell '28, who exhibited excellent ball possession and control throughout the field. Defensively, Justin Fu '27 and Adrien Dellaert '25 were instrumental in maintaining pressure against Choate’s attacks. Their aggressiveness matched that of their opponents, allowing the Martlets to hold their ground for significant stretches of play. Despite their strong performance, the Martlets faced challenges due to Choate's adept use of exaggerated techniques, which ultimately led them to score three goals.
The Martlets regrouped after halftime, returning to the field with increased intensity and determination. Goalkeeper Will Gallagher '27 made several impressive saves, showcasing his skills and keeping the team in the game despite the mounting pressure from Choate. As the second half progressed, the Martlets improved their gameplay, exhibiting greater cohesion and resilience. However, Choate managed to score a penalty and added another goal, concluding the match with a final score of 5-0. Despite the loss, the Martlets displayed significant potential and determination. The team remains optimistic and committed to improving, ready to soar in upcoming challenges.
The Grit & Grace Award is presented to Will Gallagher '27 for his exceptional goalkeeping performance. Will demonstrated remarkable skill and composure throughout the game, making a series of impressive saves that kept the Martlets in contention despite the final score. His ability to command the box effectively was evident, and remained a crucial presence during challenging moments.
