Commencement Speaker for Class of 2025 Commencement Announced

We are delighted to announce that the 2025 Commencement speaker will be Moy Ogilvie, a distinguished member of the Westminster community, proud alumna, lawyer, and change agent from the Class of 1986.

Moy’s service to Westminster is extraordinary. She has served as a class agent, committee member, and trustee for more than a decade. Her leadership and commitment to the school are evident in her roles on various committees, including the Faculty and Student Committee, the Board of Trustees, and the Strategic Planning Committee.

“One of its greatest strengths is the focus on community,” Moy said about Westminster. “You learn from the minute you arrive at the school that community matters, and it is not just about you.”

Moy was honored with the prestigious Alan F. Brooks ’55 Distinguished Alumni Award at Westminster’s 125th Anniversary Gala. The award is given annually to a graduate who embodies the school’s core values. Upon presenting the award, Brooks said: “Although I can’t be sure where the award will rank with Moy’s other accolades, of this I am certain: As this award honors her, she does even greater honor to it.”

From the beginning, Moy has been a force for positive change. As a 14-year-old applicant to Westminster, her essay on Albert Halper’s short story Prelude focused on the theme of fighting for something you want to change—an idea that has shaped her career. She is a litigation attorney and currently serves as the Managing Partner of McCarter & English’s Hartford office. She is president-elect of the Hartford County Bar Association, serves on the board of Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity and is a member of the Connecticut Judicial Branch’s Access to Justice Commission. Moy provides pro bono legal services for children in need through Lawyers for Children America and for individuals through various organizations. She also supports numerous community initiatives, including Hartford Youth Scholars and Horizons at Westminster. Moy’s commitment to service and leadership embodies the values Westminster strives to instill in all its students.

Moy exemplifies intelligence, character, and a lifelong commitment to service—values that Westminster strives to instill in all its students. “There is no doubt that the staff, faculty, and my experiences at Westminster have helped shape me into the person I am,” Moy said. “I will be forever grateful to Westminster for the life-changing effect of being a part of the Westminster family.”

We are honored to have her as the 2025 Commencement speaker.
