Martlets Fall to AOF

In our season opener, we fell short with a 3-7 loss, but the score doesn't tell the whole story. It was a competitive game throughout, with strong efforts on both ends of the field. We kept it close until the fourth quarter, where a few late goals gave the Avon the edge.. Arthur Lilly ‘27 got the scoring started. Ethan Hernandez ‘27 fed Lilly and Lilly bounced it under the AOF goalie to give Westminster a 1-0 lead. After a Winged Beaver Beaver goal, Lilly once again put it home after a scrum in front of the Beaver net. AOF would get two goals late in the 2nd period and Westminster trailed 2-3 at the break. The Martlets had chances in the 2nd half, but just could not quite finish. Finally, Henry Brooks ‘28 found Lilly and the Martlets trailed 3-4. AOF would finish with a few more goals. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to build on — solid ball movement, good communication, and contributions from everyone on the roster. A strong foundation to grow from as we move into the rest of the season.
