The match between Westminster School and Kingswood Oxford was a spectacle of skill and teamwork. The Martlets soared to a decisive 6-0 victory. From the opening whistle, the Martlets dictated the game's pace, showcasing their well-coordinated plays and tactical prowess.
A significant part of the Martlets' dominance came from the exceptional performance on the wings. Wynne Pritchett '28 on the right and Chloe Champoux '28 on the left were instrumental in delivering precise crosses and through balls to the strikers. Their synergy and understanding of the game contributed significantly to the team's success. In an unexpected and strategic twist, Eliza Reilly, traditionally a striker, demonstrated her versatility by stepping into the role of sweeper. Her adaptability and skill shone through as she delivered a masterful performance, solidifying the Martlets' defense and earning high praise. The first half saw the Martlets take a commanding lead, wrapping up with a 4-0 scoreline. The goals came from the swift feet of Chloe Champoux '28, Georgia Ursano '28, Eliza Lane '28, and Saleha Rahimi '28. Each goal was a testament to the teamwork and determination that defined the Martlets' play.
The Martlets were met with a more formidable opposition as the second half started, but their resolve remained unshaken. They pressed on with unwavering determination, ultimately adding two more goals to their score. Chloe Champoux once again found the back of the net, securing her second goal of the game, while Mya Polastry '27 concluded the scoring with a well-executed finish. Their persistence in the face of adversity is a testament to their indomitable spirit. Overall, this match demonstrated the Martlets' strength, skill, and teamwork. The coaches, players, and supporters alike have much to celebrate as the team continues to build on its impressive season.
The Grit & Grace Award goes to Eliza Reilly '27. Playing in an unfamiliar position, she was nothing short of outstanding, her performance described as magistral. Her ability to adapt and excel was crucial to the team's resounding victory.
