Martlets Fall to Pelicans

Westminster fought hard but came up short in a tough 39-51 loss to Loomis. From the opening tip, both teams played with high energy, with Westminster showing strong defensive efforts and battling for every possession. However, despite creating good scoring opportunities, the shots just wouldn't fall for Westminster, making it difficult to keep pace with Loomis. Even with the shooting struggles, the team never gave up, playing with intensity until the final buzzer. They continued to contest shots, crash the boards, and push the tempo, demonstrating their resilience and determination. Though the result wasn’t what they hoped for, the boys showed heart and fight, setting the stage for growth in the games ahead. Bennett Varao ‘27 led the team with 11 hard-earned points. Eight other Martlets scored and everyone had a key rebound or defensive play. Manny Cazeau ‘28 had his best game as a Martlet with 8 rebounds and 6 points. Luca Romano ‘27 supplied the spark in the second half with a key steal and lay up. The Martlets trailed 4-14 early in the game and then it was an even contest for the rest of the way. Enoch Olaosebikan ‘27 and Alex Brown ‘27 added timely baskets to keep Westminster in the game.
