Martlets Defeat Williston

The Martlets traveled an hour north to Northampton to take on the Wildcats from Williston. We lined up and started with the even numbers. The Martlets starting slowly with #2,4 and 6 all going down early on. The Wildcats were first on the board at #4 with a 3 game victory against Andrew Ma ‘27. While the games were close, Ma did not have too many leads in this match and his opponent took the victory. At #6, Alessio Suarez ‘28 took the scenic route to a 3 game victory, with 3 close games but 3 victores saw the martlets level the overall match at 1-1. Mathias Seber ‘26 lost the first game 6-11 at #2, then took over the match with strong shots and won the last three games at 6,3,8 to put the Martlets up 2-1 heading into the second round of matches. Issac Kwon ‘28 and Sam Jiang ‘28 won three game matches at #5 and #7 respectively. Both players played well and dominated these matches from start to finish, sealing the match for the Martlet. After splitting the first two games, Will Henry ‘26 finished strong with 11-7 and 11-6 games to win his match at #1. Finally, Crosby Cutler ‘27 had taken his first two games but then lost the last three games in very close fashion, in a match that had a little of everything and was entertaining to watch! In exhibition matches, Zach Li ‘27 and Chip Genung ‘25 won their exhibition matches in straight games. The team was very happy with returning from a long weekend with a win and with the stop at Chipotle on the way home. We return to the Kohn Squash Pavillion on Saturday when we play both Avon Old Farms and Choate.
