We kicked off the 2025 season by hosting Deerfield Academy, and the team has been working hard in preparation for this first match. Everyone was eager to compete, and it was an exciting start to the season.
Elsa Koh '26 played at #1 singles, where she showcased an aggressive baseline game, moving forward to finish points off short balls. Elsa secured a win in her match. She also teamed up with Clover Cooper '26 for their first time playing together at #1 doubles. The pair played exceptionally well, with Clover holding her own at the net, delivering strong volleys as the opponents targeted her. Elsa continued to play aggressively from the baseline and finished points at the net. They won a closely contested match.
Helen Marshall '25 competed at #2 singles against a highly skilled opponent. Despite her hard work and determination, she came up just short in her match. Clover, playing #3 singles, fought hard in her match as well. After a tightly contested first set that went to a tiebreaker, she pushed through in the second set but ultimately lost a well-fought match.
Lauren Neuman '25 played at #4 singles, starting with a tough tiebreaker loss in the first set. However, she bounced back in the second set, winning it 6-0. The match came down to a third-set 10-point tiebreaker, where Lauren fought valiantly but ended up just a few points short.
At #2 doubles, Remi Morello '25 and Lauren played together. They exhibited strong chemistry, creating many exciting points throughout the match. Their opponents kept the pressure on, and despite a competitive back-and-forth, Remi and Lauren lost in a tight contest.
Charlotte Tyler '28, in her first varsity match, competed at #5 singles. She faced a very consistent opponent who rarely missed. Charlotte competed well and gained valuable experience that will help her improve for the rest of the season.
Lucy Morton ‘26 also played her first varsity match at #6 singles. After a nervous start in the first set, Lucy found her rhythm in the second set, pushing it to a tiebreaker. She fought hard but ultimately lost in another close and competitive match.
Morton and Tyler teamed up at #3 doubles and played well together, but they, too, lost a close match.
Overall, it was a highly competitive match where everyone showed great effort. We're looking forward to the next match and are optimistic about continued success throughout the season.
