Martlets Fall to Pelicans

The Martlets traveled to Loomis Chaffee to compete with the Pelicans in another Kohn Squash Pavillion. Although this was a 6-1 loss, it was a very competitive match with many matches that could have gone either way. At #1 and 2, Will Henry ‘26 and Mathias Seber ‘26 fought valiantly in tough 3 game losses against strong opponents. Crosby Cutler ‘27 had chances in both of his first two games at #3, but also fell in 3 games. The best chances to flip the results came at the middle of the ladder. At #4. Daniel Frid lost a tight first game 10-12 before dominating the second game 11-3. The last two games could have gone either way, but the Loomis #4 was able to seal the match with 11-9 and 11-8 game victories. Issac Kwon ‘28 dropped his first two games very quickly before rallying to take his third game 11-9. The last game was also close with many back and forth points, but Loomis took that win 12-10 in extras to win that match as well. Andrew Ma ‘27 started strong at #6 by taking the first game and was well on his way to a second game victory(10-6 up) before his opponent rallied to take that game 12-10. Andrew fought hard in the last two games, but ran out of steam against a consistent and steady opponent. Alessio Suarez ‘28 won his match, all 3 games extremely close and competitive, in a clean 3-0 (9,10,10) performance on his birthday! Sam Jiang ‘28(twice), Zach Li ‘27 and Chip Genung ‘25 all played well in their exhibition matches, with 4 game victories by Zach and Chip. The Martlets will return to our Kohn Squash Pavillion one more time next Wednesday to play the Rhinos from Taft.
