Martlets Fall to Deerfield

The Martlets hit the road and headed to Deerfield, MA for a 4:30pm matchup. The game got off to a challenging start for Westminster, as Deerfield came out strong and dominated the first period leading 3-0 after the first 18 minutes. Despite the tough start, Westminster made some key adjustments heading into the second period. They tightened up defensively and managed to limit Deerfield's potent offense, preventing further scoring in the middle frame. However, Westminster struggled to generate much offense of their own against Deerfield’s formidable defense. As the game entered the third period, Westminster made a final push, showing determination and energy to break through. The Martlet’s had some quality offensive zone chances but were unable to capitalize and Deerfield was able to add three of their own. The game ended with a 6-0 victory for Deerfield, but Westminster's resilience in the third period showed promise for future matchups. The team's ability to make adjustments on the fly combined with their overall effort were two key positives that the Martlets took away from today's game. Westminster has an exciting weekend coming up with Senior Day on the horizon. Please join us at Jackson Rink on Saturday at 4:30pm against Canterbury to help us celebrate our seniors!
Our Grit and Grace player of the game is Ruby Robertson ‘28! Ruby has been a consistent player for the Martlets all season and each shift today she excelled and gave it all she had!
