Martlets Fall to Masters

We opened the season on the road and faced a tough opponent in the varsity squad from Master’s and suffered a one-sided loss. To our credit, we played with grit and grace throughout even though we were outmatched by the mostly older, highly skilled Master’s players. Goalie Thomas Merrill ‘28 and Henry Brooks combined for 18 saves, the most dramatic of them a diving stop by Brooks on a ball inside the 18. Midfielders Soren Techet ‘28, Caden Weichselbaumer ‘28, and Carsten Matthews ‘28 were all over the field and won their fair share of 50-50 balls, while Dylan Curtis ‘28, Noah Maltby ‘28, and Brooks BeVier ‘28 gave a great effort in the back wall. BeVier earned the game’s Grit and Grace award for his great teamwork and courageous, intelligent, steady play. Despite the score, we have a lot to be proud of for today’s effort.
