Third Boys' Hockey plays well but can't convert in loss to NMH

In search of some holiday hockey cheer in its tilt with the NMH hoggers, the Third Boys' Hockey squad returned to Westminster disappointed that they would have to wait until 2016 for another shot at its first victory. The game was a close one from the start, with end-to-end action and plenty of opportunities for both teams. Westminster played with tenacity for sure, and applied more structure to their breakout, powerplay, and forecheck. While there will be plenty to work on in the New Year, the group is hungry to improve and certainly will. Once again there was no shortage of effort, a little bad luck, and great scoring chances that the Martlets just couldn't convert. Of note, SK Lee '18 and Tyler Rome '16 had strong games in the center role, as did the defensive core of William Wieber '18, Tim Harris '17 (one bone-rattling check), Jackson Schopp '19 and Ryan Szwkowny '18, had a number of strong shots throughout the day. Alex Gadowski '18 was strong between the pipes, and Wick Carter '19 notched his first goal of the season after a barrage of point blank shots. The boys will finish this segment of the season with two hard practices before returning to what promises to be an exciting season ahead. Trinity-Pawling next on 1/9.
