Martlets Fall to Berkshire

The Martlets hit the road for a Saturday afternoon matchup against Berkshire! Both teams had strong starts, proving that it would be a well matched game. The first goal came late in the first quarter off the stick of Lily Vincent ‘25. The urgency of Vincent in the circle put her in position to collect the rebound and get the Martlets first goal of the season. The Martlets' ball movement, quick transitions, and ability to force offensive corners throughout the first half led to their 1-0 lead. Berkshire, however, came out strong to start the second quarter, scoring two goals within about 30 seconds of each other. The Martlets called a timeout to regroup in hopes to gain the momentum back. The Martlets hustled hard for the remainder of the quarter, continuing to work to regain momentum. The first half would end in a 2-1 deficit. The second half consisted of chances for both teams. Well played defense and goaltending kept either team from adding another tally to the scoreboard, causing the game to end in a 2-1 loss. Although a disappointing loss for the Martlets, the team is looking to end the season on a high note in their final game next Saturday against Governor's Academy.
Our Grit and Grace player of the game is Allysen Whitehead ‘25! Allysen led the Martlets today through her hard work and perseverance!
