Martlets Remain Unbeaten with Win over Choate

The Martlets completed their three game week with a home matchup against Choate! After successfully completing a small stretch of away games, it was great to be back on Hovey field on this sunny Saturday afternoon. Although the team had a busy week, the Martlets came out energized and ready to work! The first half consisted of smart ball movement, good effort, and overall great energy! The first quarter ended scoreless, but about half way through the second, Lily Vincent ’25 got the scoring started for the Martlets and this would not be the last of the day for the senior forward! Not long after, Hadley Crowther ’25 continued the scoring to give the Martlets a 2-0 lead, who would also be adding another to the scoresheet later in the game! The first half ended in a 2-0 Martlet lead, but the team was not satisfied! The group used the break to regroup and discuss what they needed to work on. As the second half got underway, the Martlets got back to work! Lily Vincent ’25 added her second of the game to put the Martlets up 3-0. The rest of the third quarter consisted of some back and forth play and some great ball possession from the Martlets. As the fourth quarter got underway, the scoring would continue. Gigi Filippetti ‘26 found the ball in the circle and put it in the back of the net to give the Martlets a 4-0 lead. Seniors Crowther ‘25 and Vincent ‘25 would each add another to the scoresheet later in the fourth quarter to finish off the scoring for the Martlets. Crowther was able to find a rebound in the circle, while Vincent crushed the ball off of a successful corner play to find the back of the net. Choate also found the back of the net twice in the fourth quarter to bring the final score to 6-2 Martlets! Although playing three games in a week is always difficult, the Martlets showed great improvement over the past several days and they were able to walk away with three important wins! The Martlets look forward to hosting Miss Porter’s School at 2:30pm on Wednesday October 2nd! We hope to see you there!

Our grit and grace player of the game in Lily Vincent ‘25! Not only did she have a hatrick in today’s game, but she paired it with some great passing as well! Her hard work and good offensive ball movement helped the Martlets bring their record to 5-0!
