Martlets Win on the Road

The Martlets took their talents on the road for the first time this season to take on Northfield Mount Hermon in Gill, MA! With a week-long stretch in between games, anticipation for this match-up had been building over the last several days. As the game got underway, Stella Spitz ’27, quickly got the scoring started off of a nice rebound in the circle. The early goal from the Martlets ignited the NMH players, causing the first quarter to end in a 1-1 draw. As play remained even in the second quarter, Mana Shida ’25 made a great pass to the center of the circle, where Pippa Jiranek ’26 was able to put it home! Although not the ideal start for the Martlets, their consistent energy and effort brought them into the half with a 2-1 lead. As the second half got underway, the Martlets started to control the ball more and did a great job defending the lead. Mana Shida ’25 buried the Martlets third goal of the game after her continued hustle she showed all game. The scoring continued through the second half with Gigi Filippetti ’26 and Caroline Callen ’26 earning the next two goals for the Martlets as a result of strong individual and team efforts. The Martlets finished the day with a 5-3 win and a total of five different goal scorers. This widespread contribution led to a great team win and a 2-0 start for the Martlets. The Martlets will be hitting the road again this Wednesday, September 25th, as they take on the Kent School at 2:45pm!

Hadley Crowther ’25 is our Grit and Grace award winner for the day! The hustle she showed all over the field was a major contributor to the Martlets win today! Hadley’s effort led to multiple defensive stops and numerous offensive opportunities that helped lead the team to a 2-0 start for the season!
