Martlets Win in Watertown

In a thrilling Wednesday afternoon game at Taft, Westminster emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, showing resilience and determination to secure the victory. The game kicked off with an early lead from Taft, who scored just a couple of minutes into the first period. However, Westminster wasted no time responding—sophomore Bella Zapata found the back of the net just 15 seconds later, assisted by Mya Polastry '27, tying the game 1-1. The remainder of the period was back and forth with each team getting their chances. The second period was equally hard-fought. Zapata struck again, putting Westminster up 2-1, but Taft answered with a quick goal of their own, leveling the score at 2-2. Both teams showcased their resilience with their quick response goals. The decisive moment came in the third period. With eleven minutes left on the clock, senior captain Adrienne Hall netted the game-winning goal for Westminster, putting them ahead 3-2. Despite a late push from Taft, the Martlets' defense held firm, securing the win. The line of Hall, Polastry, and Zapata led the team today, as well as the strong goaltending of both Kate Epke ‘27 and Liesel Kocourek ‘27. The Martlets' 3-2 victory was well deserved! The team found the back of the next at critical moments of the game and showcased strong defense and goaltending when necessary. The team fought hard from start to finish and walked away with a well-deserved team win! The Martlets look to continue their momentum into Saturday as they hit the road to take on Berkshire for their final away game of the season.
Our Grit and Grace player of the game is sophomore Bella Zapata! Bella had two goals today as well as a consistent, strong effort that was a huge spark for the Martlets.
