Squash - Junior Varsity Boys'
2024 - 2025Head Coach: Ethan NaThe Kohn Squash Pavilion, which stands at the top of the school's entrance driveway, is the home of Westminster's Boys and Girls Squash programs. The facility, which opened in the winter of 2000, gives the Martlets what is arguably the finest squash facility in New England. Internationally ranked player Brett Martin feels it is one of the finest facilities in the world. Spectators can view the action on the eight international courts from a central elevated viewing platform, as well as from balconies that overlook the courts.The Junior Varsity Boys' Squash team practices every day at the same time that the Varsity Boys' team practices and as a single team. This makes for intense practices during which the Second team players are pushed to develop their squash skills and to become ever more competitive by the more experienced and talented Varsity team players. This also means that Junior Varsity Boys' Squash players get instruction from both the Varsity and Junior Varsity team coaches on a daily basis. Traveling together, the two teams also compete against the same schools at the same time.
The Westminster squash program emphasizes sportsmanship above all else, but historically it has also been a very successful program at both the Varsity and Junior Varsity team levels. Over the past ten years, Junior Varsity Boys’ Squash has compiled a match record of 84-46-2 against the very best New England prep schools. Many of the younger Junior Varsity team players go on to compete for the Varsity Team before they graduate.
