Martlets Take Down Bearcats

In the second game of the 2024 Flood Marr Tournament, the Martlets faced off against the Bearcats from Hotchkiss, both teams looking to rebound after tough losses earlier in the day. With the snow falling heavily in Dedham, Mass., and the energy high, the Martlets were determined to finish Day 1 on a high note—and they did just that, delivering an electrifying 7-2 victory.
From the opening puck drop, the Martlets came out with intensity, showing no signs of letting their earlier defeat to KUA define them. Just three minutes into the game, Tommy Coccaro '26 lit the lamp, getting the Martlets on the board early and setting the tone for what would be a dominant performance. With the first goal in hand, the floodgates opened.
The Martlets’ offense was a well-oiled machine as they piled on six more goals throughout the game. Blake Burke '25 was on fire, notching a pair of goals and adding an assist to help lead the charge. Derek Rhodes '25 was just as lethal, scoring twice and tacking on an assist. Quinn Pine '25 contributed a stellar 1 goal and 2 assists, showing his playmaking prowess. The Martlets’ offensive depth was on full display, as every line seemed to have a hand in the win.
In the crease, Jack Fichthorn '26 stood tall, providing a steady presence and making key stops to keep Hotchkiss from building any momentum. His performance in net was instrumental in preserving the lead and ensuring the Martlets cruised to a well-deserved 7-2 win.
