Martlets Finish 8th

The boys cross country team raced the Founders League Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Taft and performed admirably, finishing eighth overall, with three runners placing in the top fifty overall. This included Sam Hyde (’25) leading the way as the top Martlet, James O’Connell (’25), and Nick Lopriore (’26). Rounding out the top seven times for Westminster were Matt O’Connell (’25) who tied his personal best time, Michael Wang (’27), and Mikey Wang (’28), who both set personal best times while giving easily their best effort of the season.

In the JV race, Daniel Frid (’26) led the way with a personal best time, with Niraj Prakash (’26) only twenty seconds behind him while running a personal record. Also setting personal bests were Sean Tang and Alessio Suarez, both of whom have been battling injuries all season. What an awesome opportunity for both Alessio and Sean to show off their best fitness of the year in one of the biggest races of the year!

GRIT & Grace Award – Nick Ramsumair (’27). With one race left to go in the season, it is great to see our runners in peak fitness, however a big part of that is leadership. Nick Ramsumair (’27) has been clearly taking a page out of Sam and James’ book and demonstrating that exact leadership by galvanizing the team and leading four runners to their best running efforts of the season. Truly an impactful Martlet.
