Martlets Defeat Williston and K-O
The Martlets hit the ground running this weekend at Williston winning back to back dual meets in the first victories of the season. Sophia Lazor ‘27 was the Martlet’s first place finisher and 3rd place overall finisher in a fantastic time of 23:43. Close behind her were Sofia Eleuteri ‘28 for a fifth place finish in a time of 24:34 (a personal best) and Sophie Grace Stevenson ‘25 in a time of 25:11. Our other scoring finishers were AJ Jimenez who made a tough and gritty return after a leg injury to place 11th overall in a time of 27:09. Behind her, Blair Li ‘28 gave a great run to claim the last scoring position for the Martlets in a time of 27:45. Anna Klapman ‘26 and Sunshine Li ‘26, served as our shut out runners, blocking other teams from high-place finishes. Klapman placed 14th (27:50) and Li placed 15th (28:12) overall.
A tremendous shot out to Elle Wilson ‘26, Kaitlynn Wang ‘28, and Summer Zhang ‘28 who all ran in their first ever 5k as Martlets.
Our Grit and Grace Award goes to Sophia Lazor ‘27 for her terrific third place finish and mental toughness during the race.
