Martlets Run Well at Canterbury
The boys cross country team was only allowed seven runners in a highly competitive 5k race pitting all of division one and division two together including 12 top schools. Westy improved on last year, finishing tenth overall with all seven runners achieving season best 5k race times! Leading the way for a second consecutive week were James O’Connell (’25) in 19:37 and Sam Hyde (’25) in 19:53 placing 34th and 39th overall respectively. First year running prodigy Nick Lopriore (’26) lowered his personal best to a 21:01 finishing just outside the top 50 runners in 51st. Michael Wang (’27) in 22:43 and top third former Mikey Wang (’28) in 23:22 rounded out the top five scoring runners for the team event. Nicholas Ramsumair (’27) battled sickness the last two weeks to pull out a great race in 24:30 followed by the biggest personal best of the day, Connor Scollans (’26) in 25:02.
