Jenniqua Bailey has been named the head coach of the Varsity Girls’ Basketball program at Westminster School. Jenniqua will take over for Tony Griffith. “I want to thank Mr. Griffith for coaching our girls’ basketball team this winter. His care for the program and his athletes, as always, was remarkable,” said athletic director Tim Joncas ’00.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Jenniqua has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence and a passion for nurturing talent. A standout player, she made significant contributions at Northwest Catholic High School and Bryant University, where she achieved the esteemed milestone of scoring 1,000 points at each institution. Notably, Jenniqua served as captain during her senior years, showcasing not only her athleticism but also her leadership qualities on and off the court.
Transitioning seamlessly into coaching, she has left an indelible mark on various basketball programs. At Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford, Jenniqua served as assistant varsity basketball coach, bringing her wealth of playing experience to guide and mentor young athletes. Subsequently, she took on pivotal roles at Northwest Catholic, where she served as head coach of the junior varsity program before assuming the position of head coach of the varsity squad. Her dedication to player development and strategic acumen were evident in the team’s performance under her leadership.
Jenniqua also works as a Skill Development Trainer at
Revolution Basketball Training where she empowers athletes to unlock their full potential by honing their skills in a focused and disciplined environment. By emphasizing fundamental aspects such as footwork, body positioning, ball handling and shooting mechanics, Jenniqua equips players with the skills necessary to elevate their game to the next level.
Commenting on her multifaceted roles, Jenniqua remarked, “It goes beyond the basketball court and I’m committed to nurturing the next generation of student-athletes. Whether it’s on the court as a coach or off the court as a mentor, my goal remains the same — to help young athletes realize their full potential.”
Tim Joncas shared his excitement for the future of the program. “We are thrilled to welcome such an accomplished coach to our community,” he said. “Jenniqua brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience both at the high school and collegiate levels that will benefit our program. Her energy, passion for the game, and for working and mentoring young aspiring basketball players is palpable.”
