Martlets Battle Canterbury

In their final game of a busy week, the Martlets hosted Canterbury for a Saturday afternoon tilt. Despite a limited roster and some tired legs from our Friday night game, Westminster played with energy and grit. Parker Perillo ‘26 set the tone on the defensive end, taking on the challenge of guarding Canterbury’s biggest scoring threat and limiting her looks in the first half. Lauren Neuman ‘25 also helped lead the charge by forcing steals and leading our offensive attack. Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 continued to generate good looks on the offensive end, scoring 6 points in the first quarter and 14 points in total along with collecting 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. After a few quiet games, Eva Rodgers ‘25 also provided a much needed spark on the offensive end, hitting five 3-pointers to keep the game close. The game went back and forth throughout the second half, but in the closing minutes, Canterbury took advantage of a few lapses in our focus on the defensive end and collected offensive rebounds that proved to be the difference in the game. Despite coming up short, the Martlets played tough and will look to build on the momentum from today’s game as we prepare for another three-game week next week.
