Martlets Shutout by Salisbury

The traveling Martlets boarded the bus for Salisbury School and the fourth of five road games to start the season. The Crimson Knights are always a tough opponent, particularly on their home ice. This afternoon was no different in that regard, but the boys from Williams Hill were ready to play. Making his first-ever start in net, Nick Lopriore ‘26 showed that he was up to the task, allowing just two goals on a flurry of opportunities throughout the first period. Credit also goes to the team's collective efforts, as they played a simple game—clearing loose pucks, making the easy play out of the defensive zone, and getting shots on net whenever possible. Salisbury forced the Martlets off their game in the second period. Despite several opportunities on the power play, Westminster could not crack the scoresheet, and unsettled play in the defensive zone allowed the lead to reach 6-0. The second intermission was a welcome opportunity for the boys to gather their composure for the third period. While the Martlets were held off the scoresheet again, their compete level never faltered. Led by a mix of veteran and new players, Westminster played their best game to date. The team looks to build on their progress when they travel to Taft this Wednesday.
